Mr. Faught is the retired Administrator of the Oklahoma Securities Commission. He served in this position from 1991 to 2019 under five governors. Prior to taking that position, he was a partner with Andrews Davis Legg Bixler Milsten & Price, in Oklahoma City, concentrating in securities and corporate law.
He is the author of Oklahoma Business Organizations: Formation and Representation (Lexis/Matthew Bender Publishers, 1990 - supplemented annually), a highly successful practice manual for lawyers concerning material specific to Oklahoma corporate, partnership, limited liability companies and securities law. He also authored many published legal articles including New Developments in Oklahoma Business Entity Law, Summer 2003 edition of the Oklahoma Law Review and Application of Securities Laws to Limited Liability Companies, in the Consumer Finance Law Quarterly Report Vol. 49 No 3 Summer 1995. He also has written a column for the Daily Oklahoman on investor education. He the author of You’re Never Too Young: How to begin a family discussion about personal finance (Faught Publishing, Co. LTD, 2018: available on Amazon).
He received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Letters from the University of Oklahoma and attended Columbia University (1958-1959) under grad. He studied at a summer session at Harvard Law School studying Securities Regulation under Prof. Louis Loss and Constitutional Law under Prof. Laurence Tribe. He attended the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University and completed 42 hours of mediation training and the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Alternative Dispute Resolution Mediation training (20 HRS).
He is an Adjunct Professor of Law, Oklahoma City University School of Law (securities regulation and corporate finance) and the University of Oklahoma College of Law (corporations).
He serves on the drafting sub-committees of the Oklahoma Bar Association Business Associations and Corporations Section for the drafting of the Oklahoma General Corporation Act (1986) and amendments thereto and The Limited Liability Company Act (1991).
He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Mr. Faught a Director of the Investor Protection Institute, a national organization dedicated to financial literacy and investor education.
He maintains an AV rating and is in Whose Who in American law and the Best Lawyers in America.
He has served as an Administrative law hearing officer for over 20 years for the State of Oklahoma. HE is on the Public Arbitrator Panel of Finra. He served on the New York Stock Exchange and NASD Arbitrator Panel hearing over ten large customer cases.
